Will there be private owners of property
on the site?
Yes. The Kensington project will result in public and private
residents living on the site together. Some apartments and all
terraces which will be constructed will be sold to owner occupiers
and investors. You will not be able to discern, from the look
of the construction, which residences are public and which are
private.
Will the public and the private properties
be managed in the same way?
Again, Yes. KMC will be responsible for all the common areas whether
they relate to the public or private residences. KMC will contract
and oversee all garden maintenance, cleaning, security, repairs
and other services in the same way for each group.
How will things change for public tenants
on this development?
When KMC is in full operation, it will provide an onsite office
and staff which will be responsible for ongoing provision of services
and building, grounds and maintenance. KMC will also provide user
friendly access to staff members who can assist public residents
with issues relating to their tenancies.
What will the estate look like after all
the building has been completed?
There will be a range of housing, including, terrace houses, apartments
and the existing flats. The new dwellings will be in keeping with
the historical aspects of Kensington with no external differentiation
between public and private dwellings. Where appropriate the existing
streets of Kensington will continue into the development. The
two existing high rise towers will remain. There will also be
a community meeting centre, with outdoor recreational areas which
will be attractively designed.
Can KMC assist with questions about construction?
Although KMC is not connected with the construction of the new
development, it will assist, where it can, to aid communication
and provide answers to any questions. If we don't know the answer
to a question we will endeavour to find out or connect you with
a person who can.
Where is KMC, when is it open?
KMC offices are currently located at 42 Derby St.
